Miami vs Ohio State 2010

ROAD TRIP!!!

Hey Canes Fans!!

As I'm sure most of you know, we are finally getting our rematch against Ohio State this coming September. It took nearly a decade, but the Hurricanes will finally get a chance to avenge the travesty of the 2002 Fiesta Bowl!

The Chicago UM Alumni chapter is planning a trip to Columbus for the game. Depending on how many people are interested, we will either rent a shuttle or a charter bus (or many charter buses!) and probably stay overnight, depending on the date/time of the game. None of the details are confirmed yet, but since we'll have to plan and pay for this trip long before next football season, we need to know who would like to be included now.

Please RSVP to chicagocanes@gmail.com if you are seriously interested and we'll be in touch!

GameWatch Location Information 2010

WE GOT SOME "CANES OVER HERE!

Downtown

NEW Location for 2010

The Hidden Shamrock

2723 N Halsted Street
(Halsted & Diversey)

This year the location of our city game watches has moved! From now on and moving forward, the new Downtown Chicago home of the Miami Hurricanes will be The Hidden Shamrock .

We are very grateful for all that Mother Hubbard's has done for us, but as our club grows it is important for us to move forward! The Hidden Shamrock is the perfect place for us! They are thrilled to be home to the Chicago Canes and will be proud to fly our flag all year long! Located on Halsted between Diversey and Wrightwood, the bar is easily accessible by the Diversey Brown line stop or the Fullerton Red/Brown Line stop as well as the #8, #22, #36 bus routes, and more! Street parking (metered and not) and paid lots are also in the vicinity.

This year's game watch specials will include $3 20-ounce draft beer in a reusable mug, $6 special Miami themed drink (think along the lines of a Hurricane or PK3), and $1 off other food and drink purchases. We will continue to have half time raffles at each game and other specials will be available on a game-by-game basis.

Suburbs
Fox and Hound
Smokehouse &Tavern
(2004 Sun Times Review)
910 W. Dundee in Arlington Heights

We will return to Fox and Hound for our suburban GameWatch location. Fox and Hound is an sports bar and restaurant that is similar to a Champps with upscale decor and billiards. Based off attendance last year and the caliber of the facility we are excited to return to Fox and Hound. For those of you who failed to come by last year this is a great place. At Fox and Hound we have a private room in the back with FOUR big screen TVs along the back wall and more TVs around the tables. Orange and Green balloons throughout the room and a top notch menu make this place an awesome experience. The management caters to our every need and we even have our own volume control. The manager has become a Canes fan and will hanging “Canes Fan Parking Only” signs throughout our room! She even told the Penn State group that they were not welcome anymore. Talk about support.

Email requests/complaints/suggestions to Brian Kidder Game Watch Coordinator

Interested in Helping With the Game Watches?
The Chicago Alumni Club is looking for a few alumni to help coordinate the game watch parties. Duties include collecting the sign in sheet, keeping a head count, acting as the liaison for the locations management and organizing raffles during the game watches. We are looking for people for both locations. Contact Brian Kidder if you are interested in learning more.

These GameWatches only work if we make a concerted effort to represent "The U" at these establishments who commit time and space for us. The more fans the more support these buisnesses show our club through the year. We will only support two locations as long as attendance merits the expansion. So come on out and support your team with fellow 'Canes fans! We encourage parents of students and any and all 'Canes fans to join us.
